Almost as long as there have been railroads and trains, there have also been toy trains. There is a long and colorful association between toy trains and the traditions of Christmas, and for many Americans, they evoke warm and sentimental feelings.
Beginning at 2 p.m., would-be engineers of all ages will have an opportunity to operate toy trains as they learn firsthand about them. Starting at 3 p.m., Pat Thrasher, an amateur railroad historian and a model railroader, will give an illustrated presentation that explores the role of trains in our Christmas traditions. Free and presented in partnership with the Silt Historical Park.
